709 Water Street – circa 1870s

Designed and built by architect Alfred Giles, this lovely rock building once housed the “Favorite Saloon.” Building was restored in1996.

Davis Building – 1924 (on left)

Opened in 1924 as Rawson’s Drug Store. Renovated in 1995 exposing the original pressed tin ceiling.

Pampell’s – circa 1895 (on right)

Original building was the St. Gregory Hotel. It was purchased by JL Pampell in1899 as the third and permanent home for his drug store, ice cream parlor, candy store, and opera house.

Guthrie Building – 1888

Robert Guthrie published the Kerrville Eye newspaper here. The paper sold and became the Kerrville Mountain Sun. From 1900 – 1921 this was the Guthrie Hotel. Restored in 1981.

Schreiner Store – est. 1869

The present structure includes parts of the original frame building. A continuous general merchandise store since 1869.

Weston Building – circa 1890

Lower floor was the Barlemann Saloon. Building was bought by CT and MF Weston in 1900. It remained a saloon until 1922, when RH Chaney opened his confectionery on the lower floor. Remodeled in 1995 as the popular restaurant Francisco’s.

Schreiner Mansion – 1879

Home of Captain Charles Schreiner. Expert masons and stone carvers were brought from Germany to do the intricate design work on the exterior. The parquet floor is made of eight different hardwoods. It is currently the home of the Hill Country Museum.

Masonic Building – 1890

Designed by architect Alfred Giles. Home of the Kerrville Masonic Lodge #697 until 1927. Downstairs tenants included the post office and CC Butt Grocery store (HEB). Restored in 1984-85. Special craftsmen and rare woods were found to complete the restoration.

Arcadia Theatre – 1926

Opened for live performances and silent movies. Bluegrass legend Jimmie Rodgers performed here. The theatre was recently gifted to the City of Kerrville.

Old City Hall – 1937

The first City Hall was enlarged in 1947, adding a second floor to provide a dormitory for firemen. In 1985, it became the City Police Department and Municipal Court. In 1998 it was bought and remodeled to be the home of Union State Bank.

There are many more places we have still yet to see and maybe if we have enough time someday we might!

Must Watch: First Early Teaser Trailer for Toy Story 3!

Guess who’s back?! Disney has debuted the first short teaser trailer for Pixar’s Toy Story 3. This is a true teaser trailer, the kind we haven’t seen in a long while, where all it really shows is the title. But, it is great to see all our favorite toys back in action. Glad to see that rivalry between Woody and Buzz is still going strong, as that’s always where most of the great moments in the Toy Story movies come from. All we know about the story in this one is that the toys are dropped off in a day-care center after their owner, Andy, leaves for college. Its been a full 10 years since we last saw these toys, but they’ll all finally be back again next year!

People Still Play Quake1 !!

I would never imagine people would still be enjoying themselves playing the 1996 classic, Quake 1. I was curious and wanted to see if the web still had any active q1 servers and came across this site http://www.quake1.net/servers/and joined one of the servers and got owned lol; people who have played quake since the beginning never lose their finesse I guess. It was a blast (from the past).

A Wild Morning

Twas an early Friday morning February 6th, my brother bashed into my room telling me to get up. About 40 axis deer were in the yard apparently trapped inside ( I don’t know how they got in) once my Weinerarmer woke it actually caught up to a baby doe because the doe bashed its head against the fence and stumbled my dog had its leg but eventually the deer got away. It is quite amazing how your taciturn animal can turn vicious in just a matter of seconds over harmless deer especially, no my dog doesn’t have rabies, its just animal behavior. It was wild.
